Ballhawks launches on YouTube’s Movie Channel.

Any true Cub fan understands the virtue of patience. We waited a year to revise our trailer and shave a few minutes off the film’s running time. I’m proud of the way we made Ballhawks and the final film.

On April 20th, Ballhawks will realize a dream come true, due to the passion, talent and hard work of many people. With their most gracious support, we will launch our film on YouTube’s feature movie platform at http://youtube.com/movies/ballhawks

We are also in the process of submitting the film to ITunes and Hulu and hope to have Ballhawks available on these and other platforms by late spring or summer. Due to our license agreement with Major League Baseball, we have no plans for Broadcast or DVD sales.

Bill Murray runs the bases at Wrigley Field.

After throwing out the first pitch, Murray was also given the task of singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” This isn’t the first time that Murray has taken part in the Chicago Cubs’ festivities. The elusive film star, who grew up a Chicago Cubs fan in Wilmette, Illinois, once sat in for Harry Carey and announced the starting lineup.Murray also narrated a Chicago Cubs documentary last year called “Ballhawks.” (The movie took a look at the people who stand outside Wrigley Field to catch homerun balls.)

Lake Bluff resident shoots Documentary on Ballhawking at Wrigley Field.

You don’t have to be a Cubs fan to have asked this question: Who are the guys standing on Waveland Avenue just outside Wrigley Field, waiting for a home run ball? Lake Bluff resident Mike Diedrich took that question one step further. He made a movie about it.”

If this movie touches you in a way that makes you remember why it is that you are as passionate about the things that you care about, then you are very much in tune with the desires that have shaped your life. You don’t even have to be a sports fan to appreciate and understand this film.

Every good documentary needs a good moment of dramatic tension — Ballhawks doubles our pleasure (like Wrigley’s Doublemint gum) with two.

“Hall of Fame’s Baseball Film Festival thrills both fans and filmmakers.”

For director Mike Diedrich, bringing his film Ballhawks, which concerns the men who chase balls hit outside Chicago’s famed Wrigley Field, to the Baseball Hall of Fame was somewhat overwhelming.
